Blue Lake Khalti
Khalti Lake is located in Khalti Village, in the tehsil of Punial, Gupis-Yasin District (Gilgit-Baltistan), Pakistan, at about 2,217 meters (7,274 ft) above sea level, it is 136 kilometres from Gilgit, on the Gilgit-Chitral Road. It is right on the road side, and the views are beautiful. A few local restaurants have started forming up, but overall the area is not extremely overcrowded. It is peaceful and serene.
One could possibly camp on the banks and could use one of the surrounding small hotels.
The access road is metalled and level. Traffic in general is light and comfortable. One of the very good places to visit if you are in Gilgit-Baltistan area. Will take 4 to 5 hours to go from Gilgit, and will take a similar time to come back. So with some time to be spent on the lake itself, it is a full day activity.
The water in Khalti Lake is as clean as a mirror, and it is freezing even in summers. The Lake is filled by the melting water coming from the surrounding glaciers in the area. The maximum deepness of the Lake is 80 ft. The length is 2,354 m (7,723 ft) and width is 460 m ,depth 24 m.The Lake is the true definition of nature.
